TREAD
Extrusion is a major manufacturing procedure for rubber
and polymer processing industries. Extrusion is used to produce profiles such as window
and door seals, and tire treads. It is evident that prediction by means of numerical simulation can dramatically improve the extrusion die
design process, and reduce to minimum the number of trials in the line set-up. In
TREAD, the extrusion problems arising in tire industry are
addressed, but other polymer transformers which produce extruded profiles for the
automotive and construction industries could profit from the project results.
